Today my new sealed copy arrived. I found it on the official Warner homepage https://eurostore.warnermusic.com/de/music-store/woodstock-50---back-to-the-garden-the-definitive-anniversary-archive/0603497851683.html
But I did not opened it til now. So I don't know which numbered copy this is. But it is the original box and the price is OK. -
Can someone explain the hate this release has gotten? Obviously the price is really high but besides that it seems like a really amazing compilation. I listened to the entire thing, from disc one to 38. How much is actually missing from this release other than the Hendrix stuff?

I realize that lots of people have differing opinions regarding this release, but there are some of us out here who didn't then have the original $800 price that Rhino wanted for it, but who still want the entire concert without having to mortgage their damned house for one. 1969 copies (plus the 200 or so promos) is an arbitrary number. Rhino ought to release more copies if they still possess the licensing for it. Just saying...

Edited one year agoI am very pleased with my copy. I made CD-R copies of the audio discs and with the Sh-Na-Na set, I was able to studio recordings of the missing songs and insert them at the right spot. With the Hendrix set, I was able to find the missing songs from less-than-perfect sources and insert them at the right places, so basically, I have the "complete" show, or whatever was recorded. I paid the original price by pe-ordering, as this box sold out before the release date.
I wish Warner Records Group/ Rhino would make yet another edition - just all the discs and a booklet with all the music credits, no essays or other reproduction "goodies" at a lower price. I was a 14-year-old teenager at the time of this 1969 festival and reading about it at the time sure impacted my life in a positive manner. -
what’s next? the 350xLP definitive collection? for the low, low price of $9900.99. i’d have to think about it.

The show was free, ergo the music should be made free to the public as a national or global historical archive. Perhaps an interactive website where you can choose audio or video. Yes the physical mammoth release is nice to have, but half these will be flipped sadly. And if only 989 people get to really enjoy this, let's at least give the public the chance to stream the whole festival.
