I'm hoping for a repress of this dubstep masterpiece. I really regret not buying a sealed copy earlier for £50 -I thought it was too expensive.

The price increase of this album is so hilarious to me. I swear this album was disappointing to the masses at release and now skrillex has had a second wave of popularity, price has skyrocketed.
I got my vinyl copy for £11 on amazon years ago. -
Edited one year ago''Recess'' album is the best thing has ever done in Dubstep music. This is Brostep at its best ever form. This is also Skrillex at his absolute peak, and his best work to date. I have no other words to describe this masterpiece. The only quite similar in quality to this one, is the ''Jack U'' project, actually. Unfortunately we will never have another ''Recess'' again. His last 2 in a row 2023 albums are totally trash. He left EDM to make glitchy electronica now, depressing and boring underground music.
P.S: His friendship with ''Four Tet'' & ''Fred again'', ruined his music style literally. I hope him to return to mainstream EDM again.

Recess has always been a bit of an oddball in the Skrillex discography. It was his biggest departure from his 2010-2012 sound that so many people fell in love with. Even on release I couldn't really make heads or tails about some tracks like Coast Is Clear, Doompy Poomp & Fuck That (I do quite like the latter two tracks today).
I'm all for range and diversity in style within albums, but I still feel like Recess just isn't a cohesive album experience on the whole. What is the commonality that ties these tracks together? I can't really say.
Nevertheless, there are still moments of brilliance such as the super fun title track, the totally weird yet playful Doompy Poomp that no one could have expected to come from Skrillex, and Fire Away, which might just be the most deep, emotive (and exquisitely detailed) Skrillex song even today. Although I do prefer all of his work prior to Recess, there is undoubtedly so much skill and talent on display here, and he hasn't matched this level of creativity in his music post-Recess.
Great quality vinyl pressing. I got mine from Amazon AU for $13.64 AUD in January 2020. -
Available again on Amazon!
Great album from start to finish. Absolutely zero pops or surface noise on my entire record, I’m surprised. -
To this day, the only full-lenth album by Skrillex. The Limited Edition (3000) Record Store Day cassette is a very well done presentation.

it's got some great tracks on here, and none of them really pop out to me as bad, but there isn't enough consistency in the track listing to make this really tie together as an album and it just comes off more as a mixtape if anything. fav tracks: stranger, fuck that, coast is clear. least fav: try it out (neon mix), ease my mind.
