This is easily one of the best engineered recordings I've ever heard. The electric bass will
test the capabilities of your playback system! Also, check the beguiling outro solo on track
five by criminally underappreciated guitarist Wayne Krantz. -
This sounds amazing. The low end punch is definitely much different and much better than the CD version. The detail and dynamics are fantastic and definitely improvement the overall enjoyment of the music. Highly recommended!

Edited one year agoIncredible pressing , dynamic , clean and quiet. Amazing bass punch, precise and clean , one of my favorite albums to test bass .And I add, if you want to hear powerful and controlled basses you have to have this vinyl,

Found a sealed copy in a shop in Woodstock for a good price and it’s one of the best purchases I’ve made. Have loved this album for years but only ever listened on streaming. From the opening bass rumble I was impressed - it’s what I hoped it would be but didn’t expect. Have never heard bass on vinyl like this and it’s shockingly good. Analog source and great work on mastering and pressing. Don’t miss it if you’re a fan.

Confirm on reviews here. From someone who never listen to Donald Fagen before. Picked this one up recently and the quality of this pressing is stunning!

Edited 3 years agoJust picked this up and everything said below is true and then some. I too have this on CD and in multi-channel as part of the Nightfly Trilogy and agree this pressing beats them both. Why the heck did I wait so long?

Fantastic pressing! I listened to the CD for years and then recently bought this 2006 release on vinyl. Wow! The mastering for vinyl that Kevin Gray and Steve Hoffman did on this is stellar! It is cut nice and hot with tremendous bass and very good dynamics. They took full advantage of the opportunity to spread these nine tracks across two LPs. The performances from all the musicians stand out, particularly the drums of Keith Carlock and Freddie Washington's bass. A must have for any music lover.

Couldn't agree more with you Harry but I'll say a few more words. Say what you will about the Fagen catalog spanning 4 albums over some 3 1/2 decades cause they all sound pristinely recorded with a pure jazz/rock mix. This is my favorite of the batch with such an infectious groove that powers the album throughout. It's such a great sounding album which I think outdoes the sound quality of any Dan album. So much I think of it as it's now my go to album to test new audio products and impress others. And I have over 5,000 lps to choose from too. The spaced out grooves of 9 tracks spread out on 4 sides surely attributes to this audio perfection. On a side note I actually have the issue from box set which is not a gatefold but all the other lp versions are.
