Definitely the best I’ve ever heard this album sound. I’m more of an Axis guy but this is a historically monumental album, and especially at the price I paid ($17) it’s a must-have no-brainer.
Includes a lined sleeve, but an insert would’ve been nice. Shrink wrap was very tight and consequently the jacket is a bit warped. Vinyl has a slight warp to it also, but not enough to affect playback or make me want to exchange it. -
Best purchase at Walmart in my lifetime. Holy crap the sound is so crisp and bright. Compared to the original US stereo, this one wins by a long shot. The only disappointment, if you can even call it that, is there is some sibilance but it's in the master I'm sure because the original has the same issue.

Edited 9 months agoI feel the need to point out the fact that George Marino was such a master of his craft - what a great version of this iconic album he cut. Wish he was still around!
Of course people will mention that the UHQR is the definitive version of this album, but this costs 5-7 times less to purchase ;)
I am all about quality, but we have to appreciate how an all-analog, masterfully mastered (hah!) and perfectly pressed (at QRP) version of such an iconic album can be easily found and acquired. Wish more releases were this good AND this accessible.
It sounds amazing, particularly if you play it very loud! But I as I type this I am listening to the album on my headphones and it sounds glorious, even almost scary at times, like Jimi is speaking directly to you inside your head...
The wax is dead quiet and the instrument separation and clarity are insane... the album may sound kind of hot/bright at times but I believe this is how it was originally cut in the 60's? Any inputs regarding this last observation are appreciated.
About the sound contents, this record needs no introduction. It might not be considered the best Jimi Hendrix Experience album to a lot of people but particularly it was the first album of them that I got to know - and after listening to it for more than 20 years, it still sounds fresh and "new", particularly when listening to this pressing. Imagine listening to this when it first came out in 1967?! I would have gone nuts for sure.
Thank you so much Jimi, Noel and Mitch for the music, and also thank you George Marino for this beautiful cut of this legendary album! -
It sounds good. But a bit bright. I don’t know how it originally sounded but since this is from the master tapes I guess the master tapes also sounded bright. In my view, this kind of album cud do with a deeper base and less bright since the pitch of the guitar is high and forward. Nevertheless an iconic album and all analogue and pressed at QRP - at this price, it’s a great deal!

Just bought a new cooy and copy is flawless. Sounds great, no/very surface noise if any and no pops. Ridiculous record for $12

Mine was skipping a lot on side A. Gave it a good clean and now it plays immaculately. One of my favorite records.

Great sounding pressing. Listening side by side with my 1970 Pittman pressing, the 1970 cut has muddy vocals and muted cymbals. This is a better listen.

Wow, this is such a steal. It’s from his estate so I think that’s cool, QRP pressings are great and I think because i found a repress maybe better QC too, my copy is flawless
All analogue, sounds amazing
