You can get a decent bootleg copy of this. I have one. It is not a 7" though. It appears more like a 12" cut on an album. It plays very well if I . I am not with a my vinyl at the moment. I can't what the bootleg was called, but it plays well.

Obsessed here with getting hold of a good version of this. Am I to assume from the comments here that unless it's an original 1976 pressing, then it'll be a shoddy reissue done badly?

Not only did Roy Ayers cover this on the album step into our life, there are 3 total songs written by Flowers on the album," Heart of the Beat, For Real , and Give It To Me," which "Give it to me "also features Flowers himself on piano!

I only bought the Roy Ayres albumn for their version now I know where it comes from, it all makes sense. Top top tune

Also covered by Roy & Ayers and Wayne Henderson, again, not a touch on the original version in my opinion.

A Leroy Hutson-sounding, string-laden song with a wonderful vocal that has to these ears never sounded dated. It is a glorious record that for me, epitomises what is great about the 70's modern soul sound.
A bootleg EP featured a '12" version' of 'For Real', infact it was just an accomplished edit that fused both the A & B sides of this 45 together, there was never an official 12" release.
Flowers also cut another track for LA Xpressio, the equally lovely 'We Can Make It Happen' (LAX 102) which is also highly-indemand amongst collectors of this genre.
My favourite record of all time.
