Edited 2 months agoSuperb collection of Bill Evans albums. Many must-haves as well as some excellent albums. Also included is ‘The ivory hunter’, which is not as good (but it's still Bill Evans...). At this price it's really interesting. The sound is perfect. I regret that 'Tenderly' from ‘Everybody digs Bill Evans’ has been removed, as well as 'When I fall in love' from ‘Portrait in jazz’ (they could have removed a track from ‘The ivory hunter’ instead, frankly). The big negative is the packaging: the plastic case is fragile and impractical, the design is ugly, and the information is patchy and hard to read. That's a real shame. But that said, if you come across it, it's still very interesting, especially if you want to delve deeper into the work of this genius.

What can I tell you about a living legend, a man considered to be one of the greatest jazz pianists ever, a man who’s worked with the everyone who’s anyone, a man who was front and center for the Miles Davis recording of Kind of Blue, a man who’s been in the pocket for more genres of jazz than most people can think of … and even today, despite his longterm use of heroin, there are few his equal.
His honors include thirty-one Grammy nominations, along with seven awards and was inducted into the Down Beat Jazz Hall of Fame. Add to that, his song “Waltz For Debby” is still the most widely covered jazz standard of all time, leaving me to profess that his work around the time of Empathy is probably his very best. That said, this collection of twelve albums on six discs coming to you housed in a four-disc sized jewel case, along with a nice booklet (featuring all of the original album artwork), with sound quality that is sure to inch a mile wide smile across you face.
Yes, a couple of tracks are missing … still I find nothing to complain about.

Edited 10 months agoExcellent collection listing the first issue version for 12 of Bill Evans' albums (only 2 tracks missing from the first 2 albums). Highest class jazz muzic, excellent sound (the digital mastering versions from the 80s with high DR values and low peaks), a true collectors item at a very affordable price.

Great mastering. Many hours of beautiful Bill Evans for the price of a chicken tikka. What are you waiting for?
