I must thank Mike in Oakland (from another site) who noted that the European pressings and the U.S. EMI pressing sound different. The U.S. pressing is slightly thinner in the low end, and that makes for a more bright and brittle sound. While the Dutch pressing is warmer, and thus in my books, far superior. Pity the Kids in America who had to settle for the harsher version.

It would seem to be a little-known fact that the backing band on this album is actually symphonic prog outfit The Enid. The entire band is name-checked in the notes on the back: Steve Stuart (sic) (guitars & vox); Robert [John] Godfrey (keys); Chris North (drums); Martin Russell (bass); and Francis Lickerish (guitars). They owned and ran The Lodge recording studio at this time, the place where the album was recorded.

My version (European release) has three bonus tracks not listed above: "Shane", "Boys" and 7" version of "Water on Glass".
