I'll it the truth: I only got this record because I wanted to see what the fuss was all about, after hearing about how its apparently one of the best-selling albums of all time. I thought "Okay, I know who the Eagles are but how on earth did a compilation album like that one end up selling copious amounts of copies while they worked more on 'Hotel California'?"

Personally, I don't really know anybody else my age or younger who l know for a fact listens to what's essentially the American answer of the Beatles

It's one of those records that I reckon that it wasn't much of a priority that once I found it in the wild, I'll have to buy it just because

After spotting this warm piece of Americana for only $5, I didn't really think much about it other than I recognized the cover: "Ohhhh that Eagles album. Aight....I'll give a chance"

It wasn't what I expected: its a summa of that band's finest work from their first four albums, before Joe Walsh and Don Felder eventually ed the group and defined their Californian sound. What's even arguably magical about this record is the order of the tracklist: from "Take it Easy" to "Best of My Love", it's some serious sorcery. I understand why Henley had concerns about this record--you know, lifting certain songs from the albums they originated from while it was lifted out of context, resulting in a perceived opinion that the "meaning, nature, and quality" were taken away--but if you ask me, I don't think the magnets at Asylum Records around 1975 did a mistake here :)

Overall, it's a decent album. DECENT. Personally, it's suffices for killer cigar smoking music: "Lyin' Eyes" and "One of These Nights" are great highlights. This compilation album is primarily ONE, HUGE SONG altogether: no fillers. Then again, a greatest hits compilation shouldn't have any fillers whatsoever but I really love how one song after another, there's this warm ongoing flux that persists, as if the order of the tracklist itself was really curated by God himself. Absolutely magical stuff here!

Just something: don't get this record assuming that "Hotel California" is on it. That's because "Hotel California" didn't release until 10 months after this compilation released during the year 1976

Go get this record because you ultimately love music overall. Sometimes, you need albums like one in your collection

As for the particular pressing that I got: hey, it kicks serious ass! It's detailed! I have no complaints

If you ever see this album for less that $7 before taxes, GO GET IT
