I’m not an audiophile by any means, but the surface noise on this pressing is impossible to not notice. Everything else is great aside from that. -
My copy got a cleaning in Hummin Guru and sounds great. I have a first pressing as well. I enjoy the subtle remaster. This is one of my favorite records. -
Edited one year agoMy copy just arrived today and while it is noisy at times (especially during the quieter parts in certain songs), it is not unlistenable, so maybe I lucked out in that regard. I'd say sides B and C are the best-sounding to me (though the intro to Futile Devices is the only noisy part of A on my copy), and the colour is as great as expected.
Been a while since I listened to my OG black copy so I can't yet say how this compares to that. Oh and I'll add that the hole on my second disc is tighter than usual, but not detrimentally so. -
Love this album and its one of the prettiest pressings that I own in my opinion but the surface noise is significant, even after machine cleaning. -
Extremely noisy side A + B for me after several cleanings. C + D aren't perfect but much improved. -
Edited one year agoMine just arrived today - lots of static on all the tracks but especially Futile Devices, Vesuvius and Impossible Soul, not sure if it gets better in between or it gets lost in all the other craziness lol. Gave it a wet clean and put in anti static sleeves, but didn't really do much to mitigate the noise. -
No issues with my copy, no static, no noise. Asthmatic Kitty were not kidding when they said the colour of the pressing was cool. -
Sadly , this is a very beautiful but noisy pressing. Slightly disappointing after the stellar third man Michigan pressing from only a month ago. Oh well. I wouldn’t pay scalper prices on this personally.

they ship in early august. stop the ugly scalpers…they are scum and take all the fun out of collecting. -
Came with a lot of static out of the sleeve but after giving it a good wet clean the surface noise wasnt really that bad tbh and the actual sound quality is really good on this thing.
