Edited 12 years agoIf you hate babies, this album is not for you. And if you think this is about soothing lullabies to make children sleep, this is something to make them have nightmares instead.
This is industrial experimentation at its finest. Loops and recordings of "singers" under 18 months old are compressed, distorted and stretched beyond recognition, creating the most unusual patterns and rhythms I have ever listened on an experimental album. The overall vibe is quite dark and abstract, and there are moments when you could swear you are listening to satanic voices from hell.
It's not a perfect album, by any means, but it's still a great example of the use of samples from unusual sources (In this case, babies). If you want the best from Nocturnal Emissions, look for "Magnetized Light", probably his best work to date.
