Laquer cut by SST, one of very, very few to cut plates using all analogue technique. And Nick Robbins is one of my dearest (re-)mastering engineers, His works show a warmth not heard too often. The music therein is priceless. Next great Thing after Soundway's "Ghana Special" and "Ghana Soundz" compilations, also remastered at Soundmastering. A great 2-record set.

The sound reproduction is pretty poor on this comp(at least the re-issue) I bought it for the Edu Lobo-come along, sounds massively compressed and quite terrible. The reissue Pelicans LP press is much better sounding.

What is wrong with this people putting repress copy for sale on original copy at a rediculous price....

For me, this compilation is unparalleled in of 70's African highlife/funk/popular music. The selections opens the doors into so many artists and albums, the liner notes giving the full story of the artists and the time this music was released in. Just pick it up, don't give it a second thought. This music transcends time and space.
For Analog Africa I don't think there is much of a difference between the CD and the LP in of sound quality. Splendid 2xLP pressing.
