Has a bit of surface noise even after cleaning (my standard black is noise free) but you will have to listen very closely to notice it
-
Sound excellent, everything comes through clearly. Only minor issue is on You Missed My Heart where only one popping occurs but it’s very quiet so no biggie. The colour on it is gorgeous and fits the album so well, mine has less swirls than others I’ve seen but it still looked great.
-
Surprisingly excellent sounding record. Really love how the wax looks to have a bit of a lavender hue to it, perfect color for this album. And yeah my copy has no static, just a few minor pops here and there, the quiet spots sound good.
-
I love this album and have been trying to collect some of the special edition pressings. I was really happy to get my hands on this galaxy edition, but it's riddled with surface noise. Not super noticeable during the songs, but in between songs there is a lot of surface noise and crackles. I've cleaned the record well and made sure my stylus is clean, but it seems like this may just be a noisier pressing. I wish the color was a little more vibrant also

Edited one year agoMy copy is really poor. Noise and terrible distortion, even after several cleanings. Dead Oceans sent me a standard black LP as replacement but it's just as bad. I don't know how you get away with such poor QC for such a popular release. Serves me right for pre-ordering I guess...

This record is astounding! It looks stunning (got a nice swirl), Phoebe sounds incredible as well. There’s little to no surface noise but I couldn’t get my code to work!

I must have received a lucky pressing because mine is remarkably noise free. Very clean, allowing Phoebe’s soft voice and lovely melancholy melodies to shine. And I find the Galaxy variant to be uniquely beautiful.
-
As with any other swirl variant ymmv, but my copy is ugly. Washed out mauve, nowhere near as nice as the Punisher blue/silver variant. Sounds good, but really nothing special here. Underwhelming
-
Beautiful pressing, but I also experienced the same surface noise on the opening tracks of both sides of the record. I will try deep cleaning it, but the record label enthusiastically offered a replacement after a short email.
