Edited one year agoThe record sounds great overall, but I have to agree with the others noting popping and cracking (loud enough to be distracting as there are a lot of quiter parts to the album). Such a shame as it would have been a perfect repress otherwise. Seems you're more likely than not to get surface noise. Don't risk it.

The 2016 pressing of Nina Simone’s “I Put a Spell on You” offers a sonic experience that is simply magnificent. It’s as if the music has been elevated to an entirely new level.
The sound of this pressing is breathtaking. The nuances in Nina Simone’s vocals come to life in such a way that it almost feels as if she’s singing right in front of you. Her voice hovers above the listeners, and you can clearly discern every facet of her expressiveness, from the smoky timbre in the lower tones to the crystalline highs in the emotional crescendos.

I don't hear any pops or crackle in my copy, it sounds really cool and is the "Poland press" -
Crackle and pops all the way. My copy say “Made in Poland” so if you see this version avoid it -
Edited one year agoGreat sound - open and wide.
From the sleeve vinyl had popping background through the whole record. After two deep ultrasonic washings it has almost gone for the first side. Second side still has “authentic” sandy sound.
… Ok, I’ve tried another copy 9 month later (made in Poland). The result is the same - small popping through the whole record, and again especially on the second side. This Poland press is not worth any money. -
