Edited 14 years agoLenny Bruce's best comedy bits remain hilarious to this day. "Tits and Ass" and "Religions, Inc." come to mind.
This is a huge dose of Lenny, and much of it is ramblings about his experiences in court. The persecution of Lenny Bruce was in full flower, and Bruce became obsessed with the court system.
For the uninitiated, this 3-lp set of Lenny's live performance may be a bit much. But I find Bruce quite humorous as he details a fantastic plan to blackmail his favorite judge of the moment (Judge Axelrod).
He doesn't do many 'bits' here. It is an entertaining stream-of-consciousness performance by Bruce. Sometimes meandering, sometimes hilarious, Bruce improvised much like his beloved jazz musicians did.
He ends the performance with a very funny/sad remembrance of Judy Garland when she played Carnegie Hall. For a 'sick' comic, Lenny was quite human after all. We miss George Carlin, and we really miss Lenny Bruce.
