It wasn't until I took a deep dive into organ-driven soul jazz during the pandemic (and I'm still underwater) that it really hit me how much I've always loved organ-driven music in general, going back to when I was a teenager first discovering bands like The Rascals, The Small Faces, The Zombies, Procol Harum, and others, including the Doors. And while I think the Doors are a bit overrated, it's impossible to deny what a stunner their debut album is, alternating between blues and psychedelia, with a dark, moody seediness burrowing into the underbelly of almost every song. This particular pressing sounds very good to my ears, "Take It As It Comes" is a good litmus test if you wish to compare versions, it sounds more rich and robust here than I recall it sounding elsewhere, with ample low end and a dynamic, full-bodied soundstage. My copy plays nice and clean with occasional faint surface noise.

I have heard so many versions of this album and this is easily one of the worst. Mediocre sound.

I have a clean copy of this and I think it is great sounding. Jim’s voice comes through as it should as well as the band sounds amazing. Great balance.

Pretty generic sounding pressing. Sounds pretty similar to streaming it.
