Houdini hands down one of the most slept upon tracks from the glorious '90's IDM days, what an unforgettable tune. Absolute class.

What an iconic release by Jega. It's a perfect balance between pure energy, pure bliss and some silliness. I bought my copy back in 1997 off the hands of London's Ambient Soho owner. It was his personal copy he had just received from the Skam office, with the official release due a few weeks later. After a bit of begging and the promise to also buy V/VM's Frames For Reference, he finally handed it over. I am still thankful!

This EP by the prolific IDM broken beat artist named Jega (Yay-ga?)
is in my opinion one of their best offerings to date. While not quite
as intensely cerebral as their late 90's material tends to be, it has
more of an old school flare with the breakbeat tracks. It's easily
one of the best IDM offerings from that time frame, and has the
advantage of being much more dance floor friendly than their
later releases as well. I highly recommend obtaining a copy
of this before the current market value starts creeping upwards,
          which it invariably will do.

massive release. the first two songs are already a very good reason to buy this ep. amazing "drum and bassisch" stuff, but much more creative and heavier. very good!

Houdini is one of the most beautiful tracks ive ever heard. organic arpeggios, chord progressions, space, tape delay, distorted 808, and a distant presence. what a track.

It would be unfair to expect from Jega the well-trodden complex stylization that characterizes many other Skam or Planet-Mu artists. Rather what we get in a release like "Card Hore" is attention to raw and pure form that is unparallelled, for example, in a song like "Star"- arguably one of the most awesome of its kind. What I especially like about Jega is his dedication to balancing the classical tenets of form, harmony, with the vanguard (and often debilitating) techniques of modern electronics that characterizes many of his contemporaries. Looking forward to hearing some new releases! It's been a while since "Geometry", hasn't it?

I really didn't find this release to be as high quality as the SKAM catalogue before it. It would be well suited for a Planet Mu or Rephlex release but not up to the standards of SKAM. Jega isn't a bad artist but all of his production is so similar it gets a bit boring after a while. Don’t get me wrong I think Phlax is one of the best SKAM releases to date. With this EP it seems like he took Phlax and turned the tempo up. The beats are pretty simple, which isn't a bad thing but all around the release is simple and that's not what SKAM stands for.
