This sounds more like Vir Unis and his self-proclaimed "Fractal Grooves" than it does a Steve Roach CD. Roach did collaborate with Unis on their 'Body Electric' release, and Roach has been credited with some production on Unis material.

Some of these 'Fractal Grooves' have rubbed off on Mr. Roach it seems, as the steady tappity electronic percussion and blurpy, jabby synths anchor a lot of the material on 'Core'.

This can make for a bit of a unique release for Steve Roach, as there's a consistent 4/4 basskick on Resonation Revelation, and a more intense & flurried tribal beats on Core Meditation. The ambient flows that accompany the electronics are more of a catalyst in the way that they provide a feeling of mystery & intrigue, not to give feelings of introspection or serenity.

As the Roach release Midnight Moon is a nod toward the influence of Roger King and the guitar, the same goes for Core being influenced by Vir Unis and his electronic-themed tendencies.
