Edited 2 months agoA fabulous addition and enrichment to one‘s Moriyama record collection. The reissues by BBE in their J J Masterclass series are mostly exciting and, except for regularly warped pressings by Pallas, very recommendable.
Here the sound is just wonderful in intensity, dimensionality and depth. I relate that also to wider groove spacing resulting from the decision to cut the 6 tracks over 4 sides. Same concept as with 45 rpm cuts. Imo, a wise decision, although one has to change sides more often. A price well to be paid. -
No, 12" LP''s have good fidelity for approximately 15-16 minutes.
The last tracks on 20 minutes a side distorts. Double LP is brilliant way to go. Go w/ CD if you don't wanna flip.

WHY two LP's? It would have fit just fine on a single LP and sounded great. I know one doesn't get into vinyl for the convenience but still.

Stunning replica of the original, with obi and everything, delivered with care by BBE. And what a great album! I just don't see the purpose of dividing a former single album into a double album (seemingly a new trend). Lp's (long players) are meant to last for about 20 minutes per side, as intended (by the artist) on the original. Now you get two 12" singles, breaking up the flow after every 9/10 minutes. The improvement of sound quality can only be minor. This might only be handy for DJs.
