This reissue is fantastic. Dead quiet and as flat as they come. Oh, the music is brilliant too.

I have great doubts about the explanation that the version with two lyricists is a second pressing. The above member cited the explanation from Italianprog.com as the basis for this, but that explanation is also just a guess. In the case of the revision of the credits, it is possible to assume that two lyricists were initially listed, but were soon revised to one lyricist due to the ' appeal.

In of the process of album production, it seems that the disc was first manufactured using a center label with two lyricists' credits printed on it, and then the cover with the correct credits was printed.

If the credits were revised later, the cover would usually be revised when the second pressing was made. Of course, the cover may not be revised due to production cost issues. However, the single cover version released in 1974 has only one credit despite the major revision of the cover design.

The assumption that it is a first pressing because the album design with two lyricists' credits is an old style is incorrect. This is because, when urgent printing is needed, printed materials that have been sitting in the warehouse are often brought in and used. (Representative example: Deram's brown labels)

Anyway, I assume that the version with one lyricist is the second pressing for the following reasons:

First, the label designs of the 2448 000 catalog number released before and after the YS album are all the same as the long-space ones.

Second, the cassette also has two lyricists listed. Usually, cassettes are released at the same time as LPs.

Third, as I mentioned earlier, the single cover version released in 1974 only has one lyricist listed. And the album licensed to Japan in the 80s also has one lyricist listed. If it was revised to have two lyricists, it is common for the later versions to be listed that way.

Fourth: The German version has one lyricist listed. Italian Polydor's catalog numbers 2448 001, 002 were released in 1971, and YS, 2448 003, was released in 1972. This suggests that YS was released in early 1972. On the other hand, when we check the credit numbers for the German version, we can see that it was not released in early 1972. In other words, there is a gap in the release dates between the Italian and German versions, so we can assume that the German version was released later with revised credits.

Have exact edition, but wlbl. About the booklet, the acurrate is 4 pages, with sections 1 and 6, are in gatefold cover. Comes with aditional insert too.

Soundwise I cannot imagine an earlier issue should sound any better, just an audiophile whirlwind.
Musicwise an extremely recommendable record if you like this kind of music. Somewhat challenging or may I say darkish in the corners, not like for a day with a fragile mood.
Recommended, this album as well as this issue.

Also happens to come in a good quality gategold. The record comes in a craptastic paper static and scuff maker. After a good clean plays fine. Sounds ok. Not heard any other versions

I think it sounds excellent. Unfortunately there is no information about the mastering, as a comment I can say that one can hear "ghosting" at the beginning of some tracks, so one could assume that it is from an analog master. I don't have my copy of the original repress anymore, so I can't make any further comparisons.

Though perhaps not as punchy as an OP, I'm still having an excellent experience with the channel separation on this LP. Here's another reason to buy this copy, a list of the current prices for an OP:

Well, I got taken in again. Despite other reviewers feeling this is much better than previous releases, I compared it with an original LP and it simply does not compare. While the person handling the mastering tamed the highs a bit, he also completely obliterated the impact and presence that was on the original LPs and even the earlier CDs. This is blatantly apparent as soon as the band comes in on the first track. This album needs to be in your face, not so tame as it is here. A real disappointment.

Hi, it is indeed a good reissue compared to any other. Very clean sounding even when played loud, It sounds better than the 1989 Japanese reissue or the remastered 1994 European issue, there's a better definition on all instruments. Great packaging as well. It is taken from the original master tapes but it is first reversed into a digital file and then processed. If you are a fan then don't let it go.
