Grateful Dead* – American Beauty

Don't believe the guy below, I got one and gave it a good brushing. Dead silent and flat, good pressing if you aren't looking to get anything expensive (I've been collecting the studio color represses and this is one of the better ones)

Possibly a hot take, but I find this to be better than the 2 LP 45 cut by MOFI. I find it more detailed and the vocals pop more. Also not having to flip more sides over is a plus, although I’m not someone who bemoans the 45 format for LPs.

Controversial opinion here, but--- while I think this is a very good presentation of the album-- I think it pales in comparison to the 79 pressing Mobile Fidelity did. Just to make sure I wasn't crazy, I subjected my Dad--- who loves the song "Truckin" to a blind test, and he too preferred the original '79 MoFi.

Best I’ve ever heard this album sound for sure. Amazing separation, definition, subtlety.

That said, significant sibilance on Sugar Magnolia and Ripple which is disappointing.

I was very surprised by the sound on this one, as others have already mentioned "Great Sound". Could be one of the best recorded albums I have ever heard, every instrument can be followed at all times and sounds like the band -especially the vocals- are in the room.

I feel the need to echo the positivity here. This is a fantastic pressing all around. Soundstage and clarity are top notch. All the details are there. I also have the MoFi pressing and while that has the edge, this one compares quite favorably to it. Considering it can be had for around 25 or less, this one is a no-brainer if you don’t want to splurge on the MoFi.

I tried to add "The cover artwork can also be read as American Reality." to the Notes section but the edit update process won't take it.

Mind blowing sound quality with this pressing, don’t miss out

Sounds absolutely amazing. I’m pretty sure the shop had my copy labeled VG+, I’d love to hear near mint to see if it could actually sound better. Love this album and this is my first time listening on vinyl and it’s really just a whole new level of amazing. I’m sure my new to me Sansui 881 and my modded/upgraded pioneer pl10 with a vm95ML are helping out, but damn it’s a good sounding record.

Just picked this up, sounds fantastic! Definitely recommend this one.
