Aljama Discs/aljama disc was founded in Toulouse - Occitanie - . The record company is built about the memory work, collective work, re-issues and afro-american/carribean influences/inspiration. Currently, the new approach integrates cultural elements of northern Catalan folk or mediterranean's ground. Since its creation in 1999, the aljama disc record company promote modern music from the black atlantic era with drawing inspiration straight from the source of the 60's & 70's afro-american/caribbean artistic currents. Popular movements & expressions of the latter half of the 20th century & beginning of the 21th century, such as modern jamaican music, international jazz & soul ground or experimental sound design and mod movement make up the essence of aljama disc: a musical blend inspired by the post-colonial movement and cultural studies. Aljama disc participates in all stages in the process of musical production, from the studio recording, to the distribution and pr. All the productions was an art and craft work with a collective selected artists. Limited edition and vinyl press are the heart & soul of the record company.
